Hekate, or Hecate, is a Greek Goddess of witchcraft, the crossroads and necromancy (amongst other things). The unseen escort, she points us towards the path we ought to take, the warm glow of her torch becoming a gentle comfort in the blanket of darkness. Although the torch may guide us, it is a reminder too that we ought to light the way for others in need when we have the opportunity. Hekate is both a protectress and a guardian, a nocturnal mother who dwells in the liminal spaces offering assistance to those that call to her.

In myth, it was Hekate that came to the aid of Demeter when her daughter Persephone was abducted. A Titan Goddess, she existed before the Olympian Gods and was awarded a portion of sky, sea and earth by Zeus, demonstrating her unique position as a highly revered deity.

Sometimes imagined as a triple Goddess, or as the crone in the 'Maiden-Mother-Crone' trinity, this enigmatic deity takes many forms.
